Vueling Baggage Allowance: Cabin Bags and Checked Luggage

Vueling baggage guide

Whether you are heading to Barcelona for a few days or packing for a longer holiday, getting your luggage right makes the journey a little easier. With Vueling, the bag you can take depends on the fare you choose, so it is worth checking your booking before picking your travel companion.

This guide explains the free underseat bag, the larger cabin case and your checked-luggage options, with advice on choosing the right Tripp bag from our Irish range. Start with what is included in your ticket, then think about the space you need for your trip.

Travelling Light: Your Free Underseat Bag

Every Vueling passenger can bring one small bag measuring up to 40 x 30 x 20cm. It travels beneath the seat in front of you, keeping your essentials close without taking up space in the overhead locker.

For a short break, think about what you will actually use rather than packing for every possibility. A change of clothes, a spare layer and your everyday essentials are often a better starting point than a full suitcase. Keep your travel documents and anything you need during the flight easy to reach.

A soft flight bag can be a practical choice here, provided it stays within the allowance when packed. Leave a little room around the zip: squeezing in one more outfit can change the outside dimensions. A handbag or laptop bag needs to fit within your permitted baggage rather than becoming an extra unbooked item.

A Little More Room: Vueling’s 10kg Cabin Bag

If your trip needs more space, Vueling’s overhead cabin bag can measure up to 55 x 40 x 20cm and weigh up to 10kg. It sits in the locker above your seat and is separate from the small underseat bag.

The allowance depends on the option shown in your booking. Fly Light includes the small bag only, but you can add Vueling’s “2 pieces on board” service or choose an eligible Space One, Space Plus or Space seat for the larger cabin bag. Fly, Fly Grande and Fly Pro include both bags. Your confirmation is the final check, as options can vary by booking.

When choosing a case, look at the full outside measurements, including wheels and handles. Vueling’s 20cm depth limit matters: a case listed as 21cm deep is not within this allowance, even if it is described as cabin luggage.

For a few nights away, a lightweight cabin case helps you make more of the 10kg allowance. Pack heavier pieces close to the base, keep smaller items together and leave enough room to close the case without forcing the zip. If you use an expandable case, check its packed depth with the expansion open before travelling.

Packing For A Longer Stay: Checked Luggage

A week away, a family holiday or a trip that needs extra outfits may be easier with checked luggage. Vueling offers 15kg, 20kg, 25kg and 30kg options. Selected bundles include a 25kg bag, but confirm the allowance in your booking before you pack.

Each checked bag must stay within 158cm when length, width and height are added together. Your booked weight is the limit to pack to; 32kg is the airline’s absolute maximum per bag, not a free allowance.

For a week away, a medium suitcase is often the practical choice. For longer stays or bulkier packing, browse our large suitcases. Weigh the case when packed, as neither size changes the weight limit on your booking.

For sports equipment or instruments, use Vueling’s separate special-luggage guidance rather than treating it as an ordinary suitcase.

Find Your Vueling Travel Companion

Tripp recommendation: The right bag is the one that suits both your booking and the way you like to travel. For a quick escape with the free allowance, start with our Vueling underseat bags. If your ticket includes the 10kg overhead option, explore our Vueling cabin cases instead.

Think about the details you will use on the journey, too. Smooth-running wheels make moving through the terminal easier, while separate compartments help keep clean clothes and smaller essentials organised. Choose a colour you enjoy using and a size you can manage comfortably when it is packed.

Before setting off, give your bag one final size and weight check. Then keep medication, travel documents and valuables with you, so they are close to hand even if a larger bag needs to go in the hold.

Vueling Baggage FAQs

Can I take a handbag as well as my cabin bag?

Your free small bag is the item that must fit beneath the seat. Keep any handbag inside it unless your booking includes the larger cabin case too.

What happens if my bag is too big?

Vueling can check an oversized bag into the hold and charge at the gate, so measure it before travel.

How can I add Vueling’s larger cabin bag?

On a Fly Light booking, add Vueling’s “2 pieces on board” service or choose an eligible Space One, Space Plus or Space seat. Check the choices shown in your booking before travel.

Does a 21cm-deep cabin case fit Vueling’s 10kg allowance?

No. Vueling’s larger cabin-bag limit is 55 x 40 x 20cm, so a case that is 21cm deep is 1cm over. Check the full external dimensions, including wheels and handles, once packed.
