easyJet Baggage Allowance: Cabin Bags and Hold Luggage

A short break is much easier to pack for when you know which easyJet bag is included in your booking. The free underseat allowance and the larger overhead option are different sizes, so a case you used on another airline may not be the right choice this time.
Here is how to choose between them and make room for the things you will actually use, whether you are travelling light or adding hold luggage for a longer stay.
Your easyJet Baggage Allowance
Every easyJet passenger can take one small cabin bag for free. It must be no larger than 45 x 36 x 20cm, including wheels and handles, and fit beneath the seat in front of you.
If you need more space, book a large cabin bag up to 56 x 45 x 25cm. Your booking or fare will confirm whether it is included.
Free small cabin bag: what fits
Your free bag can be a compact case, backpack, handbag or laptop bag, as long as its outside measurements stay within 45 x 36 x 20cm. It is kept under the seat, so measure it when packed, including wheels and handles.
This is the practical option for a short break when you pack light and want everything with you.
An underseat case can work particularly well for a weekend away: it keeps your belongings together without needing an overhead-bag upgrade. Plan around the length of your stay, choosing a small number of outfits you can wear in different combinations. Keep any handbag inside your permitted bag unless your booking includes an additional piece.
The distinction matters when shopping. A standard overhead cabin case can be larger than easyJet’s free allowance, even if both products are described as cabin luggage. Our easyJet underseat selection helps you start with the right size; check the dimensions on the individual product before ordering.
Small Bag Or Large Cabin Case?
If everything fits comfortably into the free bag, you may not need to add more luggage. For a longer stay, compare the large cabin-bag option with checked luggage before deciding. The larger allowance must appear in your booking; simply arriving with a bigger case does not give you the extra space on board.

A large cabin bag can be up to 56 x 45 x 25cm and must fit in the overhead locker. It needs to be included with your fare, easyJet Plus membership or added to your booking.
Both small and large cabin bags have a 15kg maximum weight. You must be able to lift and carry your bag yourself.
If you are travelling for a few nights, lay out your clothes before choosing the bag. Outfits that share the same shoes or an extra layer can save more space than squeezing everything tightly into a case. Keep items needed during the flight in your small bag so you can reach them without opening the overhead case.
Measure your case with its wheels and handles included, and check the depth once packed. The name “cabin suitcase” is not a guarantee that a bag meets easyJet’s particular allowance. If the bag expands, check the extra depth before using that space.

You can add up to three hold bags per person. Choose a 15kg bag for a lighter trip or a 23kg bag for a week away, then add weight in 3kg increments if you need it. No individual bag can weigh more than 32kg.
Travelling together on the same booking? You can pool the total hold-bag allowance across the bags booked. Add hold luggage online before you travel, then check the allowance in your booking before packing.
For a week away, a medium suitcase gives you room to organise your clothes without encouraging you to take everything. A large case is useful when the trip is longer or your items are bulkier, but the booked weight allowance still matters more than the amount of space inside.
Keep medication, valuables and travel documents with you rather than in the hold bag. Weigh your packed case before leaving home and leave a little room for anything you might bring back.

(14) easyJet Baggage FAQs
Can I take a handbag as well as my cabin bag?
Your handbag needs to fit inside your one free small cabin bag unless you have a large cabin bag included too.
What happens if my bag is too big?
easyJet checks bag sizes at the gate. A bag over the allowance may be placed in the hold and charged, so measure it before you travel.
Do children have the same allowance?
Children with their own seat have the same baggage allowance as adults. An infant travelling on a lap can have a baby changing bag up to 45 x 36 x 20cm.
Will a 45 x 36 x 20cm case fit the free easyJet allowance?
Yes, provided those are its full outside measurements, including wheels and handles, when packed. A case built for the larger 56 x 45 x 25cm easyJet cabin-bag allowance is not a safe choice unless that larger bag is included in your booking.
